Water Week begins. The President of the Aquae Foundation, Angel Simón, and the Chairman of the ONCE Foundation, Miguel Carballeda, presented a special lottery ticket in Madrid this morning to commemorate World Water Day, which will be held on the coming 22 March. Both institutions agree on the importance of spreading the value and the repercussion of good management of fresh water, a natural resource which represents 3% of the planet’s water. Five and a half million lottery tickets will help to celebrate this day throughout Spain next Saturday.
Angel Simón praised the design of the ticket and moreover stressed the role of the Aquae Foundation, which focuses its action on the water-energy-food triangle, and on the sustainable economy. The President of the Aquae Foundation likewise indicated that “the majority of the millennium development goals require having quality water”, and emphasized that “sustainable development will arrive if we are capable of solving the issue of water”.
Close collaboration between the two foundations
The Aquae Foundation and the ONCE Foundation also collaborate on integrating disabled people socially and in the labour market, and promote projects aimed at encouraging non-discrimination and at achieving universal accessibility to goods and services. The agreement includes the direct employment of disabled people and the promotion of their training, support for actions which improve accessibility to goods and services through the new technologies, the development of improvement plans for access to and use of applications and facilities, and the inclusion of disability in social responsibility plans or strategies. Both organizations carry out joint dissemination and social awareness actions.
The agreement also supports technological efficiency and sustainability in the activities that the companies of the ONCE and its Foundation carry out through their business groups Ceosa and Fundosa.
