Agbar’s Executive Chairman, Angel Simón, indicated that “the Escuela del Agua is already a benchmark in the training of professionals from the water sector not just in Spain, but also in many Spanish-speaking countries, and I am sure that in the future it will continue to open up new borders”. These declarations come within the context of the annual event of the Escuela del Agua, held today in the Àgora auditorium of the Museu Agbar de les Aigües.
Angel Simón also explained that, in this current era of major human and environmental challenges, “water is one of the elements on which all these challenges converge. It is therefore important to have increasingly skilled professionals in all the profiles which intervene in the management of this resource”. He furthermore specified that “the Escuela del Agua was created precisely to meet our need to continue to transform in order to confront these challenges, making the knowledge and technical experience acquired over the company’s 150 years of history available to professionals and to society”.
In this respect, Agbar’s Executive Chairman declared that “in our group we have always been convinced that training is essential for our development, not just in the operating sphere, but also in our comprehensive vision as managers. We have evolved from infrastructure management to knowledge management”.
In his intervention, he likewise referred to the challenges of the Escuela del Agua, from among which he highlighted “consolidating the network of collaborating universities and institutions in more and more countries; expanding the focus of the School’s subjects in fields such as waste, agriculture and the management of smart territories; continuing to increase and stress the social value of the different programmes and lines of activity; continuing to make the School known and to position it as the instrument to coordinate the group’s knowledge externally, and continuing to be a benchmark in educational innovation”.
During the event, which was attended by around 300 people, a documentary was also projected which showed the experience of the first students on the Online Master’s Degree in Water Technology and Management, as well as teachers, tutors and content authors who have helped to make the Escuela del Agua an agent present in over 20 countries, contributing to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals globally through the training of the best professionals, methodological innovation and the best expert knowledge.
Three of the projects carried out in the 2017 edition were moreover presented, and the diplomas and certificates were handed over to the students of the programmes completed. The event also included the participation of the Escuela del Agua’s Director, Eduard Pallejà, among others.
