Agbar’s Executive Chairman, Angel Simón, stated that “without economic activity, there is no employment”, in a dialogue with Manuel Pimentel, ex-Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, during the Hotusa Meetings held in Barcelona.
Angel Simón referred to the need to have a stable framework in which to be able to carry out projects and, in this respect, he mentioned that confidence is a key factor to determine the possibilities of growth in a market. Investment in knowledge is moreover fundamental in order to generate high-quality employment, he stated.
For his part, Manuel Pimentel recalled that the financial crisis which broke out in 2007 "hardened the financial markets and brought us to a complex scenario which has obliged companies to rethink the business model".
In this context, Agbar’s Executive Chairman explained the transformation process, based on the pillars Digital, Innovation, Sustainable and Social (DISS), that the company has followed during the past few years and which has allowed it to be currently known as “a concession holder and also a supplier of knowledge and technology”.
Finally, both Angel Simón and Manuel Pimentel referred to the digital revolution, an element which makes it necessary to redesign the business model, highlighting aspects such as sustainable development, technology and social innovation, among others.
