In the context of the worldwide events related to World Water Day, which will be held on the coming 22 March, SUEZ Water Spain publishes a corporate position statement linked to Water and Jobs, the theme on which the UN is focusing this year.
Today, almost half of the world’s workers are devoted to spheres in some way related to water, and the majority of jobs depend on its availability. In particular, 95% of employment in the agricultural sector, 30% of employment in industry and 10% of employment in the services sector depend to a large extent on water.
Adequate management of this resource is crucial in a context in which it is estimated that by 2035 water stress – one of the main consequences of climate change – will affect 40% of the world population.
With the aim of continuing to progress with the sustainable company model, SUEZ Water Spain assumes the commitment to continue acting, through its knowledge and its professionals, to tackle the numerous environmental, social and economic challenges of the world.
The strategic commitments taken on by the company in this respect require a people management policy geared toward promoting the profile of a new professional, who will face challenges not lacking in complexity but of high social importance.
Therefore, as a company which integrates Sustainable Development as a strategic component of its activity, SUEZ Water Spain undertakes to promote a people management policy based on Innovation, Digitalization, Commitment, Cooperation and Participation, which is expressed in plans and projects linked to the following lines of action: Talent Management, Training, Employability and Corporate Culture.
