Fira de Barcelona has appointed Angel Simón as President of the new iWater Barcelona fair, which will be held from 15 to 17 November 2016, coinciding with the Smart City Expo World Congress, and will tackle the challenges of the water sector, from technology and innovation.
Agbar’s Executive Chairman will thus provide the new fair with his knowledge and experience in the sector, transforming it into an international benchmark in the sphere of water management.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona, iWater Barcelona is created with the backing of the main professional associations from the sector, including Aqua España (the Spanish Association of Water Treatment and Control Companies) and also the European Aqua Europa. The meeting is intended to be a platform on which to discover water management solutions in an exhibition area which will have the latest innovations and technologies, to contact professionals from the industry through networking activities and to learn from experts.
iWater will thus tackle the main challenges and advances in a sector which foresees that in 2030 water demand will exceed supply by 30%, according to a study by Deloitte. To tackle this and other future challenges, an assessment will be carried out on the determinant role that must be played by technology, energy management, public-private business models and, finally, an improvement in water network efficiency.
The fair is also intended to stimulate the water sector market and promote the Water Spain brand, through a commitment to the international influence of Spanish companies as a benchmark in the integration of irrigation solutions with an impact on the efficient management of areas with water stress.
