Agbar maintains satisfactory behaviour in its 2013 operating results with Group operating revenues of €2,036,800,000. In the General Shareholders’ Meeting held in the Agbar Tower, the group’s Executive Chairman, Angel Simón, and the Secretary General, Josep Bagué, presented the main economic magnitudes and the events which characterized the financial year 2013, which was submitted for approval.
In 2013 the net individual result of the company amounted to €97m, representing a 7.1% increase compared with the previous year.As for the volume of investment made by group companies in 2013, Agbar's Secretary General, Josep Bagué, positioned it at €263.6m. In 2013, Agbar maintained its sound financial situation, with a ratio of 2.3 times EBITDA.
Concessions: advanced management of sewerage network in San Sebastián
As regards the concessions activity, Agbar serves 1,186 municipalities in Spain and in 2013 it obtained contracts such as the advanced management of the sewerage network in San Sebastián. Agbar is also present in the United Kingdom and Algeria, and in various Latin American countries, where Aguas Andinas, in Chile, is its main concession, with a population served of 8 million inhabitants.
Solutions and technologies: greater presence in the private market
In relation to the solutions and technologies activity, Agbar provides services in the spheres of consultancy, design and construction, training and the operation of integrated water solutions in the private market, with particular emphasis on the energy and oil sectors, industry (especially, among others, mining, the automotive and food industries), the tertiary sector and agriculture, among others.
Research, innovation and sustainable development
Agbar is committed to RDI as a lever for the development of the business and to maintain its position of leadership in the field of the complete water cycle and the environment. In 2013, it assigned €15.1m to RDI, one million more than the previous year. Two hundred and twenty-five professionals work in the group to develop innovation.
Agbar understands sustainable development as a strategic element based on the commitment to stakeholders and on trust and determination to make social and economic progress, and also in the environmental sphere. The three pillars on which sustainable development is based are talent, knowledge and the community. As regards this last section, Agbar maintains its involvement with society, promoting social tariffs and the solidarity fund.
