Educational Projects
One of the ways in which Agbar interrelates with the local communities in which it provides its services is through educational campaigns and actions intended for students. The aim of the initiatives carried out by the company is to circulate knowledge among children and young people and to raise their awareness of the importance of the sustainability of the environment and rational use of water resources.
The Gotagotham programme, conceived to explain the water cycle to primary school pupils throughout Spain, the visits to treatment plants, for example the Sant Joan Despí DWTP (Barcelona) with the Water Classroom programme, the Water Culture programme for the creation of water defence clubs, promoted by Aguas de Cartagena (Colombia), or the educational programmes of the Museu Agbar de les Aigües, of the Museo de Aguas de Alicante (M2A) or of the Blagdon Visitor Centre (Bristol Water), are some of the educational initiatives aimed at schoolchildren and students.
Gotagotham
Gotagotham is an educational programme for primary school children the aim of which is to instruct and raise awareness on the natural and urban water cycles, and on the importance of responsible water use. During the session, which is held in schools, specialized instructors guide the pupils to help them to discover how water is taken from nature to their homes with full health guarantees and then returned to the environment. To follow this journey, the pupils travel to an imaginary world called Gotagotham where the contents are displayed to the pupils in workshops.
