Museums
Agbar’s commitment to society goes beyond the provision of all the services related to water management and includes the sphere of environmental improvement and raising citizens’ awareness of sustainable values. The company therefore carries out different actions such as the opening of thematic museums which spread knowledge about the world of water and its environmental, social and historical values.
In accordance with this desire to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness, Agbar has opened centres in Cornellà del Llobregat, Alicante, Bristol and Granada.

The Museu Agbar de les Aigües
Located in Cornellà de Llobregat (Barcelona), the museum occupies an old building designed in 1905 by the modernist architect Josep Amargós i Samaranch to house a pumping station. The museum maintains a representative sample of the steam machine which was originally used to distribute water to the city.
Architecture and machinery from the beginning of the 20th century are integrated in an innovative museography, which describes the history of water supply in a big city.
In 2010, the Museu Agbar de les Aigües won the Micheletti award, one of the most important European museology prizes.

Museo de Aguas de Alicante
The Museo de Aguas de Alicante (M2A) was inaugurated on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Aguas de Alicante, in 2009. This museum is located in Los Pozos de Garrigós, a 19th century construction, which was excavated in the rock and has a brick vault.
The museum offers a journey around a series of wells which form part of the history of supply in the city and the purpose of which was to capture and store rain water for its subsequent distribution. Next to Los Pozos de Garrigós, a recent building houses a cultural and educational space where visitors can learn about the evolution over time of water supply in Alicante.

Blagdon Visitor Centre
Bristol Water in the United Kingdom has the Visitor Centre located next to Blagdon Lake. This centre has hydraulic pumping machines which have been adapted for educational purposes, but which work almost the same as they would have done a hundred years ago. The centre moreover has display rooms with interactive screens, videos and historical elements.
As well as the educational programmes related to infrastructures and the history of supply, the centre also carries out activities to raise environmental awareness.
