Knowledge Management and Transfer
Identify knowledge, make it accessible, transfer it and convert it into new solutions and innovative services
We live in a globalized world, where the markets generate greater supply and, consequently, greater competition, and in which the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are, to a large extent, the driving force of the changes. In this century, the success of organizations will be based on the use and on the rational and intelligent application of the ICT in the service of the capitalization of talent, collective intelligence, commitment and the creativity of the people who form part of them.
The three basic premises of Agbar’s approach to knowledge management are:
- Focus the project on people, helping them to develop their potentials and to share what they know in a network.
- Organize the important knowledge in areas aligned with the business objectives.
- Apply the ICT globally: search for information, its accessibility, application of social tools to improve the flows of information… in an easy manner accessible for everyone.
In this respect, Agbar’s Knowledge Management and Transfer Division works to encourage the development of talent and collaboration through the creation of knowledge networks (formed by over 4,800 people) and in communities of practice. The Division also develops a corporate who’s who (with over 7,438 items of knowledge identified) and uses information systems such as 46 active wikis formed by over 2,243 users, a system of blogs or a digital library with personalized documentary services (magazines, seminars, images, …) and over 700,000 documents.
Knowledge generation should be followed by a packaging and transfer process which allows it to be assimilated and effectively exploited by its recipients. In this respect, Agbar’s Knowledge Management and Transfer Department endeavours to help the organization to systematically transform knowledge into sustainable economic assets.
